tax free cigarettes21/5/2008
I had a number of good friends in the Legislature who were Democrats. With the exception of their undying support for abortion on demand, their hearts were in the right place. They wanted to help people. Their giant flaw, which remains to this day, is that they believe that government is the answer for providing this help. It isn't. Granted, on a limited level, government should be there to help people get over a hump in their lives. But when government becomes the problem solver of first resort, things are a mess. They raise taxes on tax free cigarettes under the pretense that the government needs the money to help smokers quit, and for an endless string of other reasons, while in fact the additional money is needed mainly to provide jobs for their friends with masters in social work who are otherwise unemployable. In raising the tax on butts, they are hurting many in the lower economic strata who are just getting by. What these folks sure don't need is a higher tax on a pack of butts, or increased registration fees on their cars. But the Democrats give it to them anyway, like it or not. They believe that they know better.

Marlboro cigarettes4/4/2008
Best time to give up is when you have a bad cold, you don't feel the need to smoke if you're tucked up in bed. Stay there for 2 or 3 days then treat yourself to lots of nice food when you're up and about. The trouble comes when you next go to the pub. Or you hit a stressful time - in my case having to get on a plane for the first time in years. I'm back at square one but ready to try again soon. A couple of rants.. - Why don't they make safer marlboro cigarettes. I know they're deadly anyway, but those 2000 chemicals - strichnine, arsenic etc. I guess it's so if you don't get addicted to one thing it'll be something else. As if the nicotine wasn't enough, there's another 1999 chances to get hooked. - People at work who complain you're taking 'smoke breaks' when they don't. If they don't take a break (get away from the desk occasionally, walk around the block!) it's their own stupid fault. Hope they get that promotion! - Fervent anti-smokers. It's not the fact they hate smokers, it's the fact they just will not admit that they breathe in far nastier stuff everyday walking along the street. It comes out the arse-end of motor vehicles.

How many weeks did Pavlov have to ring his bell before his dog finally drooled just hearing it, even though there was no food there? It didn't take too long. Through most of the 1990's, the tobacco industry spent about $5 billion each year advertising its deadly, addictive products. Incredibly, in 1999, they increased that amount by over 50% — to $8 billion per year. In 2000, they spent $9 billion on advertising, and in 2005, a staggering $15 billion. That's a lot of bell ringing, ladies and gentlemen! Cheap Cigarettes are the most heavily advertised product in the world. Tobacco advertising is a huge lie, and a deceptive manipulation on a massive scale. And all that advertising sends a powerful message to our unconscious minds, including the minds of our kids. The sad truth is that cigarettes ads have a much stronger effect on teens than most consciously realize.

Better yet, go back and look at the ads over time. The marketplace does, slowly, respond to grassroots-driven reality pressure. Doctors no longer are shown sitting at the desk recommending Salems to their patient; they are not used to promote the healthful benefits of buy camel; said to be good for the throat, the digestion, the nerves. We are still pushing those SUVs though; they are already among us and need to be sold, don't want to take too big a loss on ignoring the reality of waste. Everything has to get to a certain place to change. A critical mass of information that no longer supports the cultural, media driven beliefs has to form to push us over into rethinking our accepted norms as a society. Cigarettes didn't cause cancer. Not till recently despite long proof to the contrary. Guns still don't kill people. Now, the drug companies being deregulated and set free to advertise, there is a pill for everything (just have to show people looking healthy and doing healthy things while advertising the pills) if you can afford it and your doctor will prescribe it rather than real lifestyle changes. We are advised to go for the pill, and to aspire to be able to afford that and so much more than we need to live. True healthy choices are still second best in our culture. And heart surgeons surely do far better than the general practitioner.

A feature of their nostrils is that a large amount of water vapor in their exhalations is trapped and returned to their body fluids, thereby reducing the amount of water lost through respiration. They can withstand at least 20-25% weight loss due to sweating (most mammals can only withstand about 3-4% dehydration before cardiac failure results from the thickened blood). A camel's blood remains hydrated, even though the body fluids are lost, until this 25% limit is reached. buy camel cigarettes eating green herbage can ingest sufficient moisture in milder conditions to maintain their body's hydrated state without the need for drinking.

Isn't your baby worth not having that cigarettes? Do you really think you'll stop after one? Well I smoked thru all my pregancies , at least a pack a day. All 3 kids big, fat and healthy, and stayed healthy into adulthood. Im not saying anyone SHOULD smoke during pregnacy. There is much more info about the risks now than there where back then. But ONE buy cigarettes????? Nah wouldnt cause any problems I wouldnt think. Some babies who are exposed to cigarettes during pregnancy have no effects, while others have a lot. You never know what could hapen. Plus, that one could turn into 2, then 3 etc. I would not even attempt it. You can do it! My mom quit when she found out she was pregnant, and made it smoke free until I was about 3 or 4. But then she smoked outside and still does. im a Doctor and if u you have 1 smoke your baby is no longer alive sorry

But when the researchers exposed cells in culture to cigarette smoke, they found that the fused chromosomes were being pulled simultaneously from both directions much like a piece of taffy, forming so-called anaphase bridges between its two ends. Eventually, these chromosomes either tear apart, leaving two broken pieces, or if they don't break apart, the abnormal, elongated chromosomes may persist after anaphase is completed. Either way, a major change in the structure of the chromosomes is the end result. "Others have found the presence of anaphase bridges is correlated with chromosome instability in cancer cells. Because cigarette smoking is linked to oral, larynx, lung, bladder and esophageal cancers, our results showing that cigarette smoke can produce anaphase bridges and destabilize a cell's chromosomes have added significance," said Dr. Saunders. "The failure of the cell to accurately repair the cigarettes smoke condensate-induced double-stranded breaks probably leads to anaphase bridge formation and chromosomal instability," added Li Z. Luo, Ph.D., a graduate student in the department of biological sciences, who will present the data. According to their results, which also are detailed in an upcoming article in the journal Mutation Research, the development of anaphase bridges and chromosome instability is most likely due to reactive oxygen species that form as the cell is exposed to the various chemicals in smoke. Treating the smoke-exposed cells with different antioxidants, agents that block formation of reactive oxygen species, prevented most occurrences of anaphase bridge formation and significantly reduced genomic imbalances. "Unfortunately, no amount of scientific evidence arguing against smoking will get everyone to stop or not begin to smoke in the first place. So, perhaps one long-term goal should be to develop cigarettes that somehow prevent what we've seen happen to the cells in our lab," remarked Dr. Saunders. In addition to Drs. Luo and Saunders, other authors of the abstract and paper are Kristen M. Werner, Ph.D., a former undergraduate student in the department of biological sciences; and Susanne M. Gollin, Ph.D., professor of human genetics at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and co-investigator at the Oral Cancer Center of Discovery at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute.
