All these technical improvements deal with new sounds, melodies, games and other means to kill time. The sphere of communication includes the very communication of people. The other its aspect deals with data transmission and that is all. As for data transmission, we must admit the fact that with the appearance of each new model, it becomes more and more improved. However, I don’t believe, that people really buy new models because of these innovations. They buy new models only because thus they want to demonstrate their wealth, their social status and toughness. People don’t pay any attention to functions of a new model. They assess its appearance and price. One more factor is important here: the amount of friends who have already bought this model and want to buy it. As you see, mobile phones can be compared with jewelry. They are no more regarded a means of communication but a means to demonstrate one’s wealth. This idea is proved by the fact that mobile phones, as well as jewelry are sold and pawned in pawn shops.
Our phones are total antagonists to our rest. In many cases they are the reason of people’s inability to relax. They know that at any moment they can be called up on the phone and be deprived of their free time in a minute. There are a lot of professions, which suppose calling for workers at any moment, even at night. In previous times when a person was on outing, he/she could forget about his/her matters for a while. When they were in the wild, they were calm as nobody had a technical possibility to disturb them. That is why when people couldn’t find calm at their own homes they could find it in the wild. Nowadays the situation has changed radically. Owing to the emergence of mobile communications, there is no place in the Earth, where people could forget about their responsibilities and duties. They are doomed to be on their guard permanently and expect new orders, no matter where they are. The very presence of a mobile telephone can prevent you form being relaxed and deprive you of normal rest. It is especially topical when you are tired and exhausted. The more tired you are the less are your chances to relax. This is an exclusive circle. If you really want to relax, you’d better leave your mobile phone at home and go for a walk. Thus you will be able to divert your attention from your problems and will have an opportunity to restore your energy and have a full-fledged rest and get back into a routine. Only when you don’t take your phone with you, you will be able to get out of it and enjoy your free time.
Nowadays in the epoch of hi-tech innovations, wi-fi and other cordless technologies, habitual fixed location phone seems an anachronism. Though modern fixed location phones have perfect and up-to-date design, their essence remains unchanged since the date of their emergence. How did it turn out that fixed location phones still exist and seem to remain in at least in the nearest future? I think that the secret is hidden in the fact that people are accustomed to these phones and don’t rash to say goodbye to them. This is a manifestation of conservatism, to my mind. There is no technical need to preserve copper line technologies. People could easily go without fixed location phones as cordless technologies are today even cheaper and can fulfill all functions, which can fulfill copper line technologies. There is no function, performed by copper line technologies, which couldn’t be performed by cordless technologies.
Mobile phones are a wonderful invention. Though mobile phones appeared not so long ago, people are so accustomed to them, that they have stopped admiring them and take them for granted. I also have a mobile phone, but I still admire this invention very much. With the appearance of mobile phones our life changed greatly. We can call each other, wherever we are and there are many situations when we can’t do without our phones. When we are in emergency situation, need help or something else of this kind, mobile phones are our reliable and irreplaceable partners. Thanks to the opportunity to call each other at any moment we can easily change our plans and it is very comfortable. But for our mobile phones, we could spend hours and even whole days for nothing. However, if we get an opportunity to change our plans easily, we can fulfill more tasks. The more tasks we can fulfill, the more tasks we have to do. There are more and more people, who have more than one mobile phone. It is also very convenient and comfortable. It is very good that mobile communication becomes increasingly cheaper. At present people don’t control the amount of money, they spend for this type of communication with each other and don’t count minutes and seconds they spend for telephone talks. On the one hand it is very nice, but on the other hand, it leads to the fact that people talk on their phones more and more and it becomes a sort of addiction for them. They don’t notice it, but that is true.
I am a rather old-fashioned person as I haven’t managed to adjust to my fixed location phone, to say nothing about my mobile one. No, I am not a depressed or taciturn, I am rather talkative and sociable, but I prefer live communication to long telephone talks. When you talk with someone in person, you don’t only hear words; you also see facial expression of your interlocutor, which can even allow you to read his/her thoughts. Live communication is much more interesting and natural, and talking on the phone is rather a way to spend your time for nothing, than an exchange of information. People spend too much time for their telephone talks. These talks are so stupid, that they are unbearable and when I am in a public transport I prefer to close my ears to avoid hearing these senseless words. People very often call each other to inform about their location, plans, coming events and so on. They don’t think whether their interlocutors need this information and go on telling unnecessary things. It is very important for a person, who initiates a conversation to be interesting for his/her interlocutor at first and then think about him/herself. It is very difficult to listen to somebody’s story, if it has no reference to your own life or plans. However, if a person is interesting for you for some reason, for example, you are in love with him/her, you will listen to any stuff, he/she is telling you. On the contrary, if a person is totally uninteresting to you, no matter, if his/her story is interesting or not, you won’t listen to it with pleasure. As for real life, it seems to me easier to break an uninteresting talk, but if you talk on the phone, you are sometimes doomed to listen to somebody’s nonsense.
